THOMASVILLE —
Thomas University will hold its first “Concert on the Quad” at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Ben Grace Historic Quadrangle on TU’s Main Campus. The concert will feature the acoustic folk music of Lynn Adler, Lindy Hearne and Bill Milford.
Adler & Hearne, a music duo from Winnsboro, Texas, tour nationally performing what they call “Folk-Jazz Blues-Grass. Certified Organic.” The two originally met in Nashville while following solo careers. Years later, their paths crossed in Texas, where they formed the duo Adler & Hearne and launched their independent label Spring Hollow Records. In 2005, they released the CD “Opposites Attract,” followed by “To the Heart” in 2009, their first studio recording together. In 2010, the CD was named among the Top 20 releases by the Folk DJ community. That CD was followed in 2012 with “Adler & Hearne Live at Eddie’s Attic,” which showcases songs from a June 2011 concert at the legendary venue.
Adler & Hearne have won several awards for their songwriting. In 2011, Adler was named the winner of the 22nd Annual B.W. Stevenson Memorial Singer/Songwriter Competition in Dallas, Texas. Adler & Hearne were finalists in the 2009 Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk event and in the 57th Annual Ozark Folk Festival in 2004.
