CAIRO —
James Boyette took an unexpected turn on U.S. 84 Thursday.
Around 4:20 p.m., Boyette, driving a tractor-trailer rig, failed to maintain his lane near mile marker 19. He was not hurt except for a scratch on his left arm.
“The driver traveled on to the south side of the road,” Parker said. “ The truck trailer overturned coming to a rest on the right side of the truck.”
Mud and and bags of fertilizer were strewn behind the truck on the highway.
“It was scary,” Boyette said. “It started pushing, and I could feel it starting to slide. Once the right wheel went off, I couldn’t get it back.”
Bruce Bynum watched the truck trailer lose control. Bynum was driving behind Boyette.
“It sounded like a cannon went off,” Bynum said. “I saw it starting to go over. I pulled over immediately to help him.”
Boyette says he has been driving trucks for nearly 13 years.
“I’ve never hit anything,” Boyette said. “I’ve never been in an accident.”
