THOMASVILLE —
A suspect who told narcotics agents he chewed and swallowed a bag of crack cocaine was treated at the Archbold Memorial Hospital emergency room before being booked into the Thomas County Jail.
Thomas County/Thomasville Narcotics/Vice Division agents were looking for a man they had been told would deliver crack cocaine and marijuana to a Grady County location.
Officers spotted the vehicle in which the man was traveling on U.S. 319 South. The suspect, Anthony Preshea Barber, 37, 706 E. Walcott St., was a front-seat passenger.
Narcotics agents noticed Barber had something in his mouth.
“We had a conversation with him about what he had in his mouth,” said Kevin Lee, narcotics/vice commander. “We feared he was trying to ingest cocaine to keep us from obtaining it.”
Barber got into a scuffle with agents. After he was arrested, he told officers he had swallowed crack cocaine and was transported by the Thomas County Emergency Medical Service to the emergency room.
