Girl missing for four months

THOMASVILLE — A Moultrie teen has been missing since seeing a Thomasville physician last fall.

The girl, Rita Lupe Martinez, whose 16th birthday was this month, has been missing since Oct. 2, 2012.

“She was in Thomasville to see a doctor and ran away,” said Lt. Eric Hampton, Thomasville Police Department public information officer.

Hampton said the girl is believed to be in the Alabama area or trying to get to Los Angeles, Calif.

“She might have a guitar in her possession,” the officer said.

The teen was described as 5-foot-6, weighing 136 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. When last seen, she was wearing a black T-shirt with pink writing, blue jeans and black tennis shoes.

Martinez is listed on the website of the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. The agency is in touch with Thomasville police.

Anyone with information about the teen should call 911.
