THOMASVILLE —
Roads will be a priority for the 2013 Thomas County Commission chairman.
Elaine Mays, who was unanimously re-elected chairman Tuesday, said most of the revenue from a Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) that went into effect Jan. 1 is earmarked for roads.
Expansion of sheriff’s and police administration areas of the Jail-Justice Center is among other projects to be funded by the revenue.
Mays, who was nominated by Commissioner Ken Hickey for the chairmanship, said money for the Jail-Justice Center project will be set aside as revenue is received this year.
