THOMASVILLE —
A Thomas County man was denied bond Wednesday, and another suspect’s arraignment will continue today in separate cases involving children.
Thomas County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested Francisco Antonio Rangel, 20, 97 Merrillville Road, and Leon Collins, 79, 789 Dillon Road, Monday and Tuesday, respectively.
Rangel is charged with child molestation.
“He’ll also be charged and arraigned today with rape and aggravated child molestation,” Lt. Tim Watkins, chief investigator, said Wednesday.
The case involves a seven-year-old girl, who told family members she had been molested by Rangel, Watkins said.
Rangel was interviewed after the child was interviewed and examined by a sexual assault nurse at The Treehouse, a local facility where children in such cases are interviewed and examined.
“He did a partial admission to the allegations the child had reported,” the investigator said.
