BOSTON —
The Boston Mini Marathon Festival provided maximum fun. Nearly every hour featured an activity or event designed to delight spectators and participants.
The day began with a pancake breakfast that was followed by the half-marathon, 5K walk and 1-mile fun run. The arts and crafts and food court opened at 9 a.m.
Those who came dressed up in Halloween costumes competed in a costume contestant 10:30 a.m., while others awaited the run/walk awards ceremony.
Taylor Culpepper and Eden Jones arrived at the fFestival before 8 a.m attempting to make an entire day of the annual event.
“I am looking forward to the ‘Trunk or Treating’ event at the end of the day,” Culpepper said.
One of the most popular events was the parade. It featured Boston’s own and current competitor on “The Amazing Race,” Rob French. French followed the police cars, riding in the bed of his monster truck at the front of the parade.
Many participated in the parade by riding on floats, including political candidates. Music was provided by bands from Cairo High School, Thomasville High School and Thomas County Middle School. Cheerleaders from surrounding schools were on hand, too, as were the L.A. Whitfield Chapter 59 Disabled American Veterans and Ladies Auxiliary, pageant queens and goblins from the Pavo Haunted House.
