THOMASVILLE —
In less than 20 minutes after a burglary was discovered at an East Pine Tree Boulevard business during predawn hours Tuesday, three suspects were in custody.
Thomasville police responded to an alarm at Fred’s, 2730 East Pine Tree, shortly after 2 a.m. Tuesday.
Glass on the front of the building had been broken. Police found a large piece of concrete on the floor inside.
The store manager arrived and said 16 cartons of Newport Cigarettes were missing.
Officers viewed the store security video, which showed three suspects. Armed with physical descriptions, police began searching the area.
In less than 20 minutes, three males fitting the descriptions were found behind businesses on U.S. 19 south, not far from Fred’s.
“They also found 16 cartons of Newport cigarettes,” said Lt. Eric Hampton, Thomasville Police Department public information officer.
A 13-year-old is among the suspects charged with the burglary.
Others charged are Anthony McCray, 18, 81 Pinelake Road, and Devonte Jones, 18, 1121 Shady Wood.
Newport cigarettes also were taken in a convenience store burglary early Sunday morning on East Jackson Street. No arrests have been made in the incident.
