THOMASVILLE —
Street work that is to begin Monday will result in exposing brick pavers beneath asphalt on Jackson Street.
On Monday, Jackson Street will be partially closed during business hours.
The two sections of Jackson to be closed are from Broad Street to Crawford Street, and from Madison Street to Stevens Street.
The work is part of the Madison Street Transportation Enhancement (TE) project and will remove the asphalt from the roadway, exposing the historic brick pavers underneath. Work is expected to be completed Monday.
The Madison Street TE project, which is near completion, has revitalized the streetscape on Madison Street by adding decorative sidewalks and lighting, moving all aerial utilities underground and also exposing the historic brick pavers on another section of Jackson Street.
Citizens are asked to remove vehicles from the two sections of Jackson by 7 a.m. Monday to allow for construction.
