The sole Democrat seeking the District 11 state Senate seat has withdrawn from the race.
Lisa Collins, an Early County resident, is no longer a candidate in the contest, which is to be decided in a Tuesday special election.
Collins’ withdrawal leaves Republican candidates Dean Burke, Brad Hughes, Mike Keown and Eugene “Gene” McNease and Libertarian Jeffrey G. Bivins vying for the post.
John Bulloch, a Thomas County Republican and longtime District 11 senator, resigned from the position in December.
