THOMASVILLE —
A teenage girl who awoke early Sunday morning to find a man in her bedroom was told by the intruder to be quiet, a police spokesman said.
The order brought a false imprisonment charge, among others, for Jimmy Roberts, 53, 518 Pine St., who was denied bond and remains behind bars at the Thomas County Jail.
“She called for her mom,” said Lt. Eric Hampton, Thomasville Police Department public information officer.
The girl’s mother asked the man, who she recognized, why he was there. Roberts responded that he had “just left a club,” Hampton said.
The girl’s mother told Roberts to leave and notified police.
The teen did not know Roberts, who Hampton said entered the house through an unlocked back door shortly after 2 a.m.
The suspect was arrested Wednesday at his residence.
In addition to false imprisonment, Roberts is charged with burglary and peeping Tom.
