Staff report
THOMASVILLE — Thomasville High School’s production of “The Fantasticks” recently captured top honors at the Region 1-AA One Act Play Festival, and several members of its student cast turned in award-winning performances as well.
A 45-minute one act cut of the beloved Tom Jones/Harvey Schmidt musical, directed by Casey Dyksterhouse, won first place in the festival on Oct. 16 in Adel, and the cast and crew WILL travel to Warner Robins for the Georgia High School Association’s state competition on Saturday.
Catherine Miller was named Region 1-AA Best Actress for her portrayal of Luisa, while Evan Pell was tapped as Best Actor for his role as Matt. Two other cast members, Jacob Rieber and Hays Hankinson, were named to the All Star Cast for their performances as Henry and Mortimer, respectively.
Rounding out the on-stage cast are Krystian Courtney as El Gallo, George Lilly and Bryce Trotter as a pair of feuding fathers and Annalee Jackson as the mute, with Jack Wise playing the score on piano.
“I’m beyond excited … I’m over the moon,” Dyksterhouse exclaimed. “I’m so proud of these kids.”
