THOMASVILLE —
The first FAMU Scholarship and Recruitment event will be held Sunday. The Thomas County FAMU Alumni will sponsor the program to spotlight the university.
Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University is celebrating its 125th year. FAMU was founded Oct. 3, 1987, as the first public land-grant institution for African- Americans.
“We want to let everyone know about the positive things happening at FAMU. This is an opportunity for people to receive scholarships to attend FAMU, as well as to learn how to stay involved,” said Michael Bryant, FAMU alumni and current field representative for Congressman Sanford Bishop.
At 4 p.m., prospective students are encouraged to bring their official transcript and verified ACT/SAT scores to be eligible to receive one of many scholarships.
“We will have Dr. William Hudson Jr., the vice president of FAMU student affairs at the event,” Bryant said.
See Wednesday's edition for more details.
