THOMASVILLE —
A suspect in the recent rash of residential burglaries in Thomasville turned himself in to authorities Tuesday.
Marco Jamal Johnson, 23, of 76 Pear St., Pavo, turned himself in around noon Tuesday, according to Lt. Eric Hampton, public information officer for the Thomasville Police Department. He was booked and interviewed by investigators.
“He has been charged with four counts of burglary,” Hampton said.
Some of the areas where these burglaries took place include Westover Avenue, Horrix Street and Neal Street.
“We had a number of break-ins and burglaries in residential neighborhoods that took place during the daytime,” Hampton summarized. “Mostly taken was jewelry and change.”
Through the course of the investigation, he said, some property has been recovered and returned to the owners.
Also, a description of a possible suspect was obtained and put out in the community. Further investigation led to Johnson as a possible suspect and to the securing of an arrest warrant. Johnson turned himself in before the warrant was executed.
Johnson’s bond was denied and he is being held at Thomas County Jail.
