THOMASVILLE —
Sept. 11, 2001, the day that changed the United States forever. Thomas University will observe this day and honor those who died during the terrorist attacks with a remembrance ceremony at 9 a.m. Tuesday in front of the Forbes Building on the TU campus.
The keynote speaker for the ceremony will be Jonathan Fallin. A native of Thomasville, he graduated from Thomas County Central High school in 1997 and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from the University of Georgia. Fallin went on to serve in the U.S. Army. He was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 2004 and led two tours in Afghanistan, March 2005-March 2006 and February 2007-May 2008. When Fallin retired from the Army, he left with two Bronze Stars and the rank of Captain.
In 2011, Fallin returned to his hometown with his wife, Deanna. They are expecting their first child in February 2013. Fallin reopened his family-owned restaurant, Fallin’s Real Pit Bar-B-Q, which has been a popular Thomasville staple for decades.
The TU ceremony willinclude an Honor Guard Procession by the Thomasville High School Air Force JROTC and music by TU professor Lisa Mitchell. At the conclusion of the ceremony, program attendees will release balloons in a symbolic gesture of hope and understanding.
