ATHENS (AP) — Police say an Athens couple whose bodies were discovered by their 9-year-old son died in an apparent murder-suicide.
Athens-Clarke police Capt. Clarence Holeman said the boy found his parents bodies in a room of their home around 6 p.m. Friday and called 911.
Police did not immediately release the couple’s names or how they died. Holeman said their bodies were sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab for autopsies.
Holeman said Friday was a holiday for students in the Clarke County School District, but it wasn’t clear whether the couple’s son was home at the time of their deaths.
