MILLEDGEVILLE —
The numbers speak for themselves.
Four state playoff appearances, including one trip to the Class AA Final Four and another that ended in the quarterfinal round. Three Region 1-AA championships, with a runner-up finish a year ago, and 85 wins.
Thomasville’s four seniors — Bree Brown, Laneisha Douglass, Jacqkeria Dunbar and Teena Lundy — accomplished quite a bit during their careers with the Bulldogs, highlighted by that run this season to a state semifinal, the program’s first since 2004. And that is something that not even the sour ending, an 83-34 loss to perennial power Wesleyan, can change.
“You always want to win and you always want your games to be competitive,” Thomasville coach Thomas McAboy said. “I didn’t think we competed as hard as we have this year in the first half.
“But we can build from it. We’ve got girls that can play, and they’ve experienced it and gotten to see what it’s like. Hopefully, they will be hungry going into the offseason.”
