THOMASVILLE —
Charlie Ward Sr. coached Central boys basketball from 1979-89. Twenty years later, his son, Chad, is guiding the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets.
Chad was named the team's interim head coach right before the season following the announcement that Reginald Knight would retire Dec. 1. Ward, who has Central 1-0 following a 74-71 win over Lowndes in the team's opener on Nov. 13, was surprised at the announcement, which was made before the start of tryouts.
See Thursday's edition for more details.
