THOMASVILLE —
Football season has been over for months but Thomas County Stadium is fixing to host another big “game” Saturday.
Around 16 teams will descend on the Jackets’ Nest for the annual Yellow Jacket Invitational on Saturday, with field events slated to start at 10 a.m. and track races starting early in the afternoon.
“It’s a pretty big-time meet,” Thomas County Central girls coach Chad Ward said. “It’s one of the meets that we look forward to carrying and it gives the community a chance to come out and support their kids and friends.
“It’s another, we call it another big football game, just not in the fall.”
In addition to Central, Ward said Cairo, Brooks County and Chiles from Tallahassee, Fla., are all slated to compete with Thomasville High expected as well. Albany area schools are also scheduled to be part of the 15- to 16-team field.
