Yellow Jacket Invitational a success

THOMASVILLE — Track and field events were in full form Saturday at Thomas County Stadium.

The Bainbridge boys and Monroe girls were the big winners in the 28th annual Yellow Jacket Invitational.

Finishing behind Bainbridge in the boys division were second-place Monroe and third-place Chiles (Fla.). The host school, Thomas County Central, finished fourth.

In the girls division, Chiles (Fla.) and Florida High tied for second behind Monroe. Central’s boys placed seventh.

Seventeen schools participated in Central’s annual track and field meet, including Thomasville, Cairo, Monroe, Valdosta, Chiles (Fla.) and Bainbridge participated in Central’s annual meet.

“It was a real nice day to have it,” Central girls track coach Chad Ward said. “It was real, nice weather for the runners to get out and feel the breeze.

“The crowd helped motivate the kids to represent their schools.”
