THOMASVILLE —
Expansion will soon be taking shape with Thomas University’s athletic department.
Beginning in the fall, TU will add junior varsity baseball and junior varsity soccer to its sports program. The expansion comes on the heels of TU purchasing the Magnolia School property and its 34 acres.
“It’s a good starting step for what we have coming in the future,” TU athletic director Mike Lee said. “I think we’re going to be able to use these programs to develop players for the varsity. There’s a lot of kids out there that just aren’t good enough right now to play on the varsity. They need some time, they need some seasoning and they need some coaching to get to that level. We think this is a good way to start developing our own players instead of having to count on the junior colleges and some of the high schools to do it for us.”
