THOMASVILLE —
The Cairo Syrupmaids kept pace with Thomas County Central Tuesday night — for a half.
The Lady Jackets (2-3) outscored the Syrupmaids 35-15 after halftime and surged to a 60-37 victory.
“That’s something we’ve been working on,” said Central coach Deatrice Hose, whose team led 25-22 at halftime. “We basically had our mind set to play hard and go get it. That’s what we did.”
Central used its stifling full-court press to force turnovers and missed shots by Cairo (2-6). The Syrupmaids hit just four shots in the second half.
Central’s boys (4-3) defeated Cairo (1-7) 43-30. Allen Wade, Malcolm McClenton and Matt Munroe each scored seven points to lead the Yellow Jackets.
