RINGGOLD —
Cairo’s season came to an end Wednesday night in Ringgold.
Playing one of the top teams in Class AAA, the Syrupmakers were knocked out of the second round by the Tigers (25-4) 5-3 and 7-1.
Steven Bench pitched a complete game for Cairo (19-10) in game one.
Chris Layton started game two and lasted four innings for the Syrupmakers. Alex Flowers pitched the final two innings for Cairo.
“They’re an extremely good hitting team,” Cairo coach Ron Best said. “Any mistake we made, pitching wise, location, they put the barrel of the bat on it.”
Ringgold improved to 25-4.
Cairo finished the season 19-10.
