THOMASVILLE —
One of the co-founders of the NCAA Wrestling Officials Association is a Thomasville resident.
William Cramp, successful in both of the uniforms he wore — a blue singlet and the black and white stripes of a referee, will be honored at Penn State on April 14 as the 2013 Penn State Outstanding Alumnus.
Cramp began his love affair with wrestling in high school. He was a two-year letterman at Penn State and a participant on the 1953 national championship Team.
This 1953 Penn State team was the only team from the East to claim a national title until the Nittany Lions did it again in 2011 and 2012.
