The Thomas University men’s and women’s swim teams have completed their inaugural regular season and have laid a solid foundation for the future.
TU will conclude its successful first year with three swimmers qualifying for the NAIA Men’s and Women’s Swimming National Championships to be held Feb. 27-March 2 in Oklahoma City, Okla.
The Night Hawks competed in six meets from November through the beginning of February. Freshman Logan O’Bryne (Tallahassee, Fla., Florida State University High School) swam in every meet with his best times coming at the SCAD Invite. O’Bryne swam middle distance freestyle and backstroke events.
Junior Justin Akins (Atlanta, Darton College) also swam in all the meets, posting a lifetime best time in the 50 free at the Birmingham Southern Invite. Akins competed in sprint freestyle events and sprint butterfly events.
Junior Nicole Hawkins (Brunswick, Darton College) competed in six meets, recording her best times in all of her events at SCAD. She competed in distance freestyle and backstroke events.
Freshman Lauren Thompson (Tallahassee, Chiles High School) swam in five meets. She swam sprint freestyle and breaststroke clocking her best times at SCAD.
