THS girls thump region rival Brooks

THOMASVILLE — The Thomasville Lady Bulldogs will play for the Holiday Hoopfest title.

The host team advanced to today’s championship game with a 64-31 thrashing of Region 1-AA rival Brooks County Friday night.

Thomasville led 31-15 at halftime and were never challenged by the Lady Trojans.

“We played a much better game than (Thursday) night,” Thomasville coach Thomas McAboy said. “We were able to get up and down the floor, hit some shots and get some stops.

“We still missed a lot of layups, but it was a much better pace.”

Khabriyah Brown and Jacqueria Dunbar led the Lady Bulldogs’ balanced offensive attack with 11 points each. Haley McNeil added 10, and Laneisha Douglass, Danisha Jones and Ricarsha Johnson each added nine points.

The Lady Bulldogs had a strong start, highlighted by a pair of 3-point bombs from Dunbar.

“It’s great for us because we’re able to control the game and dictate the pace and things like that,” said McAboy of his team’s quick start. “It’s always good for us to get off to a good start.”

Thomasville (8-0) will play Redan today at 8:30 p.m. for the tournament championship. Redan held off Brunswick 63-58 in the other semifinal game on Friday.
