THOMASVILLE —
Wins continue to elude the Thomasville girls.
The defending Region 1-AA champs haven’t stopped playing with effort, however.
“Right now, I think they are somewhat down,” said Thomasville coach Thomas McAboy, whose team is 0-9 following Tuesday’s 69-55 loss at Early County. “But we are playing better. We’ve just got to find a way to win one. I think we are on the right track. They’re working hard. We’re just trying to get them to transfer some things from practice over to the game.
“We’re trying to keep them highly motivated and trying to keep them in good spirits,” McAboy added, “keep reinforcing the things we’re doing good and also at the same time trying to correct the little things we need to improve on.”
The Lady Bulldogs have had their share of obstacles to overcome this season. They have no seniors on the roster and feature only four juniors, including Khabriyah Brown. Brown was Thomasville’s lone returning starter from last year and would have provided experience at guard or in the post. But she tore her ACL in the first game against Westover and will miss the rest of the season.
Thomasville has had to rely on three remaining juniors, Jacqueria Dunbar, Laneisha Douglass and Teena Lundy.
