TU women lose in title game

COLUMBUS — Thomas University’s softball team lost in the championship game of the NAIA Association of Independent Institutions Conference tournament in Columbus on Saturday.

California State University-San Marcos (50-4) cruised to the championship with a 9-0 rout of the Lady Night Hawks.

The Lady Cougars hit three homers, with senior Theresa Houle belting two of them.

Tournament Most Valuable Player Cortney Allen tossed six scoreless innings against TU.

Cal State and TU will advance to the NAIA National Tournament. It will be held in Gulf Shores, Ala. on May 17-23.
