THOMASVILLE —
Preparations for the 2012 season are under way for the Thomasville Bulldogs.
The Class AA school held its first day of spring practice on Friday. It marked the start of a key two-week stretch for the Bulldogs who will be leaning heavily on a senior class numbering 17.
"We're excited about the seniors that we've got coming," Thomasville coach Richie Marsh said. "We feel like there's a lot of potential leadership there. We hope they expound upon that.
"We were old and young last year. We had a lot of older kids, seniors that had never played that we knew were going to start. This year we've got a lot of kids that are young, that are going to have to start. But some of them have been around and we're looking for big things out of them in the future."
The most notable position up for grabs is at starting quarterback. Following the graduation of Devante Jones, the Bulldogs' starting signal-caller is expected to be decided between Payton Dixon, Cal King and Junior Hayes.
