THOMASVILLE —
Once a Bulldog, then a Tiger. What's next for Brandon Thompson? A Cowboy? A Packer? A Giant?
The former Thomasville High and Clemson standout defensive lineman will discover his new home this weekend when the NFL holds its annual draft.
“I’m really kind of just anxious of finding out where I may end up playing one day,” Thompson said.
Thompson may not have wait long. He is projected to be selected between the late first round and early second round. The first round will be held today, starting at 8 p.m. The second and third rounds will be held on Friday.
“That’s always been a dream of mine, first off, to go and be able to play college football,” Thompson said. “After that, I always wanted to play in the NFL. Just hearing your name called in the first round, that’s just an unbelievable achievement.”
Thompson admitted he would be disappointed if he had to wait until Friday to be selected.
“Anyone would be upset because I'm a competitor,” Thompson said.
“My ultimate goal, I just wanted (to be chosen) highest possible. No one wants to go any later. Whatever team I end up playing for, I’m going to be happy playing for them. I just want them to know they’re going to get a dominant player who’s going to give it all on every play.”
