THS sweeps Cairo

THOMASVILLE — The Thomasville basketball teams pulled off a sweep of rival Cairo Saturday night.

The Lady Bulldogs knocked off the Syrupmaids 42-34, while the boys pulled away from the Syrupmakers 55-31.

Led by Khabriyah Brown’s 13 points, the Lady Bulldogs won their 13th game of the season. However, Thomasville’s win wasn’t as easy as the first meeting on Dec. 15 when the Lady Bulldogs rolled to a 61-18 victory in Cairo. Thomasville struggled offensively, especially at the free throw line where the Lady Bulldogs converted just 2-of-13 in the fourth quarter.

“We were flat the entire game,” Thomasville coach Thomas McAboy said. “We struggled to shoot the ball.

“Just offensively, we were flat.”

In the boys game, Thomasville scored the first nine points on three 3-pointers, built an 18-2 second-quarter lead and cruised to the win.

Sparking the Bulldogs (8-6) was Jakerzmin King who buried two 3s to start the game.

The Syrupmakers dropped to 2-13.
