THOMASVILLE —
The start of Region 1-AA play brought out the best in the Thomasville Lady Bulldogs.
Hosting Early County Saturday night, Thomasville (10-1, 1-0) drained 11 3s, sank 10-of-17 free throws, built a 33-point halftime lead and crushed the Lady Bobcats 85-48.
“We played hard on both ends of the floor,” Thomasville coach Thomas McAboy said. “I don’t know how many 3-pointers we made. They were falling from all over the place.
“We did a great job defending, rebounding and getting out on transition and knocking down shots.”
It was Thomasville’s highest point total of the season. The Lady Bulldogs led 54-21 at halftime and were up 75-33 after the third quarter. Thomasville’s reserves played the fourth quarter.
Like the Lady Bulldogs, the Thomasville boys (7-5, 1-0) were also victorious, as they routed Early County 51-25.
Devonta Wyche led the Bulldogs with ten points. Andrew Parker added nine for Thomasville.
