THOMASVILLE — Brookwood girls win playoff opener

The Brookwood girls soccer team defeated Westminster Christian Academy 2-1 in the teams’ GISA Class AA playoff opener on Wednesday. Leigh Avera and McKenzie Harrell scored Brookwood’s goals.

The Lady Warriors will play again on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at First Presbyterian Christian School in Hinesville.



Brookwood golf finishes second

The Brookwood golf team finished second at the GISA Region 3-AA championship on Wednesday at Crooked Oaks Golf Course in Colquitt.

Valwood won with a score of 316. Brookwood scored a 322, followed by Terrell Academy’s 341 and SGA’s 361. All four teams will advance to the state meet in Jekyll Island next Monday.

Chandler Barnes was Brookwood’s low scorer with a 76. Taylor Patterson followed with a 79, and Luke Howard carded an 80. All three were all-region selections.
