THOMASVILLE —
Thomasville High lost its second straight game Thursday. However, it was a pair of other losses that were the biggest concern to the Bulldogs.
While THS lost 6-3 to Taylor County (Fla.) at the Bryant-Garner Complex following a 5-1 loss to Region 1-AA foe Berrien on Tuesday, the toughest losses came when the Bulldogs’ top two pitchers — Hunter Donalson and Brian Miller — got injured.
“The news these kids have gotten this week on some of their teammates, it’s disheartening to them,” THS coach Erik McDougald said, adding that Donalson is needing surgery on his shoulder, while it’s still not known what is wrong with Miller. “Most guys would fold their tents but these guys have showed up to practice and the game and haven’t let their heads hang yet. They are going to overcome this, they are a tight-knit group and they will fill the gap.
“We will find our traction again and everything will be fine, because that’s the kind of kids they are. They’ve got a lot of heart and a lot of character, and this is where heart and character shows up.”
