The Brookwood Warriors are a step closer to a GISA Class AA championship.
The Warriors advanced to the quarterfinal round following Saturday’s 6-2 victory in game 2 against Robert Toombs.
Byron Strickland notched the win for the Warriors, allowing seven hits, two walks and four strikeouts in seven innings. He was also the beneficiary of tremendous defense.
“Peyton Latmore made two great catches in the outfield,” Brookwood coach Ken Johnson said. “Rickey Escobedo made a great play at shortstop.
“The defense played real well.”
