Lady Jackets soar past Eagles

THOMASVILLE — Thomas County Central fizzled in Holiday Hoopfest opener.

It sizzled the last two days, however.

A day after knocking off Region 1-AAAAA rival Bainbridge, Central topped Mitchell County on Saturday 45-40. The win improved the Yellow Jackets’ record to 5-5, following a 2-1 mark in Thomasville High’s annual tournament.

“It definitely gives us a good start going into the new year,” Central coach Deatrice Hose said. “Hopefully, we can stay on that track.”

Central won Saturday behind a strong fourth quarter from Kaeci Guyton and Tytianna Herring. The two scored all of Central’s 12 fourth-quarter points.

“Those two young ladies are working hard and they stepped up today,” Hose said. “They did what they had to do.”
