THOMASVILLE —
Call it the home track advantage.
Thomas County Central’s boys team finished fifth Saturday in the Yellow Jacket Invitational at Thomas County Stadium in a strong showing and the Central girls finished third.
“It’s better than I expected,” Central boys coach Harry Skipper said. “The guys, I guess it was the home crowd, but they did pretty much better in every phase.
“Some guys stepped up that we hadn’t been really looking at. There were some pleasant surprises.”
The Central girls also had a strong showing at the 16-team meet, finishing behind only Westover and Monroe.
