Rant & Rave Feb. 07, 2010

“Now I know why they haven’t done the necessary repairs and ditching on Bishop Lane in Grady County. They spent $4,000 to find a $1,000 mistake.”

“I challenge the person who ridiculed Randy Young and Mark Lastinger about their history on Haiti. You can easily call in and do that, but you print what you know about Haiti then. Send in your column. Randy Young is a teacher, so I’m sure he dug up all the history he could and got the facts. It’s got nothing to do with racism. It’s the facts. When will you wake up?”

“Sen. Saxby Chambliss needs to be voted out. His views on gays are discriminating. Here is a senator who never served in the armed forces who thinks he knows about the armed services. He should ask the men and women who serves our great nation.”

“Randy’s Haitian history fiction? We have a library. Check it out. Then apologize to him. What you don’t know doesn’t make it so.”

“Obama needs to stop using his rhetoric and telling lies upon lies. If he wants to get serious about reducing the deficit, he’s got two easy steps to take. One, stop the spending of the remaining $500 billion of last year’s $800 billion stimulus package, and, two, refund to the treasury the $500 billion in TARP funds repaid by the banks.”

“To the person in Pavo stealing newspapers: We have you on our security cameras. Look out!”

“It’s disgraceful that the U.S. Air Force Academy provides a place of ‘worship’ for pagans and other-centered religions. God have mercy on this country.”

“I fear no Democrat or Republican. The only thing between Earth and eternity that I fear is God!”

“As one who worked in Haiti for nearly 20 years, I can attest that every word Randy Young has written is 100 percent accurate. Nearly all of the billions of our money sent there was either stolen or squandered, and for anyone to suggest we haven't done our part to help those people is preposterous.”

“Randy, I agree with just about every word in your column. Even though I know you didn't say it, however, I want to make sure no one thinks you were suggesting we not help Haiti. I know what you meant, but I also know people seem to read a lot into what you say.”

“If you think Obama is doing a great job with this country, you aren't getting the facts. He is seriously hurting us in many ways — the economy, national security, our national debt — just to name a few.”

“Don't kid yourselves. Everyone knows the ‘Tea Party’ is the Republicans!”

“Pat Robertson is a loon, and so is any other person who makes statements like his about God punishing people with natural disasters.”

“As a black man who worked in Haiti for eight years, I challenge the ranter who complained about the 'racist' history of Haiti to point out one thing that was written that was not true and to attach their name to their words in doing so. Africa still has slavery alive and well within its borders. So are Africans 'racist?’”

“Numerous reputable polls have shown the U.S. is a ‘right of center nation’ and the majority of Americans identify themselves as being conservative. The Times-Enterprise is a ‘right of center’ paper and, therefore, in step with the majority of Americans. The almost bankrupt liberal New York Times would do well to take a page out the T-E's paper!”

“Thank you to Kathy, who was behind me at Walmart last Saturday. When she overheard I was sending a package to my son and daughter-in-law in Iraq, she insisted on giving me money to help with shipping and told me to thank them for what they do for us. What a wonderful gesture! We need more ‘Kathy's’ in this world!”
