Rant & Rave Oct. 29, 2009

“My tax bill says my taxes are due by Nov. 15. That is a Sunday. Is the tax office going to be open on Sunday?"

“I love the government program that started in June giving out free cell phones and 70 free minutes a month."

“We need some football coverage up in Pelham. The coach up there is turning the program around and winning."

“Just about every day at school is tacky day the way the students dress now."

“Expecting your hardworking neighbor to support you when you are lazy is crazy."

“Of course, Maggie Gallagher has her right to rant and rave against gay marriage. What I object to is the Times-Enterprise's bold headline — ‘Gay marriage threat.’ That is outrageous."

“We are denying that God had anything to do with our birth and growth in our country by removing His presence. That's why we are failing."

“My compliments to Randy Young, Bill Shaver, Joe Sharp and all those who helped recognize the 1959 Yellow Jackets with their varsity letters. That was pure class from top to bottom.”

“The local tea party crowd has fallen silent — no meetings on elections or outcries about the repeal of the property tax credit that cost homeowners thousands in taxes. Some are quietly soaking in benefits of the once-maligned bailouts. Faulkner wrote a great epitaph for the movement: ‘A tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.’”

“To the person who said keeping all of what I earn is greedy: My own family is needy. Why should I have to give to someone who is too lazy to get a job so they can support their own family.”
