LETTER: Accept the truth

I just happen to be on the newspaper’s Web site and noticed where someone who had all the answers was gabbing about what is wrong and what the President is not and what we need. I am glad he doesn’t speak for the whole country.

I am not targeting this toward that person. He has a right to his opinion. I am just amazed at all the smart people who are coming out of the woodwork with all the right answers.

Instead of answers, I will offer observations that people are afraid to mention.

I must have been sleeping the last eight years prior to the last presidential election. Why, you ask? Because we were under a Republican-run government and financial corruption reached an all-time high on Wall Street. CEOs, CFOs and everyone else who could count two nickels borrowed without permission. Theft by deception became the new fad.

My bad. That was President Obama's fault. The President inherited a country under financial ruin, but it was his fault.

The pharmaceutical industry was doing as it pleased to the public, with HMOs dictating patient care and health insurance companies constantly jacking up the rates and reducing the benefits. My bad. That was the President's fault.

Two wars in two countries, yet he is supposed to come up with all the diplomatic remedies overnight.

The worst part of the situation is that most of all the Republicans and Democrats who have an answer to the war, economy, and healthcare were in office for the last eight years. What happened? Were all the geniuses playing Rip Van Winkle?

Now, after the country almost collapsed under the resting laurels of eight years of blindness, only now do folks see the light. Even the average Joe who can't spell legislation has a solution to the problems of society.

I was told that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Why did all the smart people allow the country to virtually go to hades in a hand basket refuse to speak eight years ago?

Now everyone's a critic. If you were thrown financial ruin, two wars and a busted health care system, could you have it fixed in one year? If you’ve got all the answers, please do your fellow Americans a favor and go to Washington and offer some solutions. I am sure we have people in place who would be willing to implement your plans.

What the Republicans and Democrats need to do is stop worrying about being re-elected and put their heads together and do what is best for the country as a whole.

don't know everything, but I do know that there is so much money involved in the way old business is handled in this country that it will be difficult to put something new in place. Many individuals and corporations will not allow me, you our families, or anything to come between them and millions of dollars. It's time to wake up and accept the truth. The truth is this on the real, "It's all about the Benjamins, baby!"
