Bertha Mae Eddings Bryan

Services for Bertha Mae Eddings Bryan of Dixie are at 11 a.m., Dec. 10, 2009, at Barwick Baptist Church where she was a member. The Rev. Elbert Channell will officiate and interment is in Barwick Rosewood Cemetery. Pallbearers are Ronald Carruthers, Duke Bryan, Jay Pittman, Jason Bryan, Kenny Sickler and Steve Sickler. Mrs. Bryan died Dec. 6, at Archbold Medical Center. Born March 4, 1914, in Colquitt County, she was a daughter of the late C.W. Eddings and Maybelle Murphy. She married Paul W. Bryan Sr. who preceded her in death in October of 2009. She was a homemaker and member of the Barwick Women's Club. Survivors include three daughters, Ernestine Sickler of Falls, Penn., Faye Pittman of Boston, Janice Bryan of Barwick; two sons, Sam A. Bryan (Julie) of Thomasville, Paul W. Bryan Jr. (Lisa) of Thomasville; granddaughters, Natalie Pittman Griffin (Al), Gloria Pittman Rob (Doug); grandsons, Jay Pittman (Sheila), Thomas “Duke” Bryan (Cynthia); granddaughter, Julie Bryan Moran (Rob); grandsons, Jason Bryan, Kenny Sickler (Kathy), Steve Sickler (Sherri), Mark Sickler (Natalie); 16 great-grandchildren; step-granddaughter, Lisa Taylor (Russ); step-grandsons, Jay Lattay (Katherine), Bo Walthall; and step-granddaughter, Lane Beatty (Blanding). She was peceded in death by a daughter, Jeanette Bryan; and a son-in-laws, Charles Pittman and Larry Sickler. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., today at the funeral home. Montine Collins Vickers

Services for Montine Collins Vickers, 82, of Whigham, Ga., are at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at Magnolia Baptist Church, Whigham, Ga. The Rev. Robert Crapps and the Rev. Johnny Burdick will officiate and interment is in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are deacons of Magnolia Baptist Church. Mrs. Vickers was born July 3, 1927, in Grady County, to the late Albert and Emily Gillespie Collins. On Nov. 1, 1943, she married Willard Vickers, who preceded her in death on June 4, 2002. Mrs. Vickers was a member of Magnolia Baptist Church and a homemaker. She had worked with Whigham Banking Company and the Grady County Tag Department office with the late Tom Walker. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Derrick and Trudy Vickers of Whigham, Darwin and Marlin Vickers of Walden, N.Y.; sister, Doris C. Poppell of Whigham, Ga.; grandchildren, Michelle West of Cairo, Ga., Clifton Vickers of Whigham, Ga., Bryan Vickers of Ranger, Ga., Devona Pickles of Tallahassee, Fla., Jason Vickers of Albany, N.Y.; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Agnes Christiana Berner Willis

Graveside services for Agnes Christiana Berner Willis, 83, of Boston, are at 11 a.m., Thursday Dec. 10, 2009, in Evergreen Cemetery with Pastor Charles Moore and the Rev. Sherman Hall officiating. Mrs. Willis died Monday Dec. 7, at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born in Brooks County, she was the daughter of Hugo Sanders and Bessie Lee Shoupe Berner. She was a secretary for Colonial Stores for over 30 years and retired as a homemaker and extremely talented cook and baker. She was known far and wide for her talents in baking cakes of all sorts and was mainly famous for her delicious caramel layer cakes and down home southern cooking. She is survived by her husband, R.G. Willis of Boston; two daughters, Shawna Ann Willis of Boston, Connie Gail Willis (Steve) Jacobs of Boston; six grandchildren, Tami Rebecca (Steve) Shierling, Tony Lee (Kim) Gore, Ricky Roswell Gore, Lauren Christiana Drew (Michael) White, Briana Lee Jacobs, Alicia Renee Jacobs (David) Parnell; 12 great grandchildren, Drake Sandy Shierling, Jacob, Justyn, and Katie Gore, Dess Gore, Kristianna Gore, Logan Edenfield, Braxton Gore, Parker Gore, Aslyn Christiana Plymel, Elise Louise White, Kaylee Jacobs; a sister-in-law, Mildred Berner of Boston; a cousin, Hortense Drigger of Tampa, Fla.; and a daughter-in-law and son-in-law; Sandra and Herb Wetherington of Boston. She was preceded in death by a son, Sandy Roswell Willis; a daughter, Peggy Lee (Johnny) Gore; a grandson, Johnny Bruce Gore Jr., a brother, Hugo Berner; three sisters, Vera “Teer” Garbett, Helen Carroll, Lucy Mae Hutchinson; and her nieces and nephews. Floral tributes will be accepted or donations may be made to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite, 1001 Johnson Ferry Rd., N.E., Atlanta, Ga. 30342.
