Alan Douglas Jurney

THOMASVILLE —

Memorial services for Alan Douglas Jurney, 64, of Cairo, GA, are at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 26, 2013, at Midway Baptist Church, Cairo, GA.  Rev. Carl Harrell and Rev. Ron McCaskill will officiate.  Mr. Jurney passed away at Tallahassee Memorial Regional Medical Center, Tallahassee, FL, on Wednesday, January 23, 2013.  Mr. Jurney was born on November 6, 1948, in West Palm Beach, FL, to the late Jack Arnold Jurney and Doris Perkins Jurney.  On May 12, 1973, he married Leslie Worrell Jurney, who survives.  He served his country in the United States Army.  He was employed with the Georgia Department of Family and Children Services.  He was of the Baptist faith.  Alan, a husband, father, and grandfather (called Pappy) loved spending time with his family.  He was proudest of his children, Amanda and Matt.  He loved following the kids around to every ballgame they ever played in.  He loved his boat and fishing for all the ‘big” fish.  He had the best and most entertaining fishing stories about all his prize catches!  Survivors include:  his wife, Leslie Worrell Jurney of Cairo, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Amanda and Robert Ridgley of Cairo, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Matthew and Lauren Jurney of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Ava Kate Ridgley and Wyatt Ridgley, both of Cairo, GA, Easton Ridgley and Samantha Ridgley, both of Port St. Joe, FL, Emersyn Grace Jurney of Jacksonville, FL; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jacqueline L. and John Hickinbotham of Lilburn, GA, Susan M. and Jim Mahoney of Tallahassee, FL.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Doris Jurney.  Memorial donations can be made to Pelham Parkway Nursing Home, 608 Dogwood Drive, NE, Pelham, GA 31779.  The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Friday, January 25, 2013, from 6 until 8:00 p.m.  Guests may sign the online register at www.clarkfuneral.com. — Clark Funeral Home
