He then retired from Florida A&M; University in environmental engineering. Brother Wooten was preceded in death by six siblings. He leaves to cherish his memories one son, Gregory Wooten of Thomasville; four sisters, Maurice Mays of Thomasville, Gracie Jefferson of Quitman, Mary Lacey of Glen Vale, Md., Bertha Smith of Jacksonville, Fla.; and, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Memorial services were held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 13, 2010, at the Simmon Hill Baptist Church in Dixie, with Pastor James Huewitt officiating.
