Shirley Ann (Rush) Turner

THOMASVILLE —



Services for Shirley Ann (Rush) Turner, 67, of Thomasville will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Clifford Temple C.M.E. Church.  Interment will follow at Peaceful Rest Cemetery with friends of the family serving as pallbearers.  Mrs. Turner was born on November 27, 1944 in Troy, AL to the late Arnold and Dessie Rush.  She was a member of Clifford Temple C.M.E. Church and  a graduate of Knoxville College, Class of 1966 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology.  Mrs. Turner also attended Florida A & M University, Albany State University and Loyola University.  After completing her education she would go on to work as a school teacher.  She was also a retired seamstress and was currently working at the Scott Center.  Ms. Rush, as she was known before marriage, was previously married to John Wesley Turner of St. Louis, MO who survives.  She was a resident of Thomasville for 37 years and she departed this life on Wednesday, October 31, 2012 at Archbold Memorial Hospital.  Shirley leaves two sons, Wesley Bernard Turner, a senior executive at Kaiser Permanente in Virginia and Kenneth Turner, an associate of Americold Logistics in Atlanta; her beautiful daughter-in-law, Angela L. Turner; four grandchildren, Anthony Bernard Turner of Fairfax, Virginia; Kendall Turner of Woodbridge, VA; Kenasia Turner of Douglassville, Georgia; and Kenneth Turner, Jr. of Douglassville.  Shirley was previously married to John Turner of St. Louis, Missouri.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Hudson.  She also leaves a brother-in-law and sister, Sid and Betty Burston of Los Angeles, California; an Aunt, Arguster Daniels of Los Angeles, California; Nieces and nephews, Diane, Patricia, Deborah, Regina, Cassandra, Terry, Terrell, Andre and Christopher; Maxie, Janee, Mar-Yoi, Zaitarrio, Lemoya, Shartriya and many others.  Shirley, we love you. — Hatcher-Peoples Funeral Home
