Alice Brunson Canada

THOMASVILLE —

Services for Alice Brunson Canada, 91 of Thomasville will be held at 3:00 pm, Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Allen & Allen Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Milton Gardner will officiate and interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery. After 91 years of a life lived fully with an independent spirit, Alice Brunson Canada passed peacefully on November 3.  The oldest of seven children in a close knit rural Alabama family, Alice always loved her baby brothers. She spent her young adulthood in World War II era Tampa, FL before marrying and making a lifetime home in Thomasville, GA with her husband of 44 years, Robert A. Canada.  She was blessed with neighbors she considered family as well as co-workers who became her Neel's Department Store family.  A steadfast mother to her only child, Deborah, Alice grew to cherish her son-in-law Darrell, and at age 75 fell in love with her only grandchild, Devon.  With Devon she enjoyed 16 years of hugs, teasing, and competitive games, spanning infancy through learning to drive. Always fiercely independent, Alice lived life her way and she will be missed. Survivors include daughter, Deborah Canada Campbell and husband Darrell of Dacula, Ga; grandson, Devon Campbell of Dacula, Ga; brother, Charles Whitney (Whit) Brunson and wife Florence; sisters-in-law, Beverly Brunson of Shelbyville, Ky and Louise Halpern Canada of Anniston, Al. She was preceded in death by parents, William Andrew Brunson and Obie Butler Brunson; siblings, Clifton Monroe Brunson, Frances Louise Brunson, William Harold Brunson, Donald Haward Brunson, and Willard Travis Brunson. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions to the American Cancer Society, Hospice, Red Cross, or other humanitarian organization. The family will receive friends 2-3 before the service on Saturday. Guests may sign the online register at www.allenfh.com — Allen & Allen Funeral Home
