Elizabeth Borden

THOMASVILLE —

Services for Elizabeth Borden of Whigham will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church in Whigham.  Rev. C. J. Henry will be officiating services with interment to follow at Walden Cemetery in Whigham.  Pallbearers will be Willie Gilchrist, Tyrone Addison, David Addison, Jr., Chris Hines, Booker T. Jackson, Gary Wooten, Greg Dukes and Gary Addison.  Ms. Borden was born on November 22, 1935 in Boston to the late George Brown and Bernice Thomas and stepfather Elton Sims.  She was a member of St. Stephens Missionary Baptist Church in Whigham and she attended Washington High School in Cairo.  Ms. Borden created a union with Mr. Aaron Borden in 1956 that would continue until the time of his passing.  She was a lifetime resident of the Whigham community and she departed this life after an extended illness at Presbyterian Home in Quitman on Sunday, October 28, 2012.  Survivors to cherish her memory include her sons Jerry Borden (Emma) of Tallahassee, FL, Ellis Borden (Katherine) of Baton Rouge, LA, and Willie Gilchrist of Albany, NY; daughter Iia Bailey (Percy) of Savannah; sisters Carrie Anders (Joseph) of Whigham, Lillie Willis (Joe) of Cairo, Lula Sims (Herman) of Atlanta, and Mildred Martin of Thomaston; brothers George Brown (Emma) of Calvary and Harris Sims (Diane) of Columbus; aunt Josie B. Frederick of Atlanta; uncle Henry Brown of Miami, FL; sisters-in-law Mary B. Harris of Bainbridge and Lillie M. Borden of Whigham; nine grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.  Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Aaron; sons Aaron, Jr., Michael and Jerome; brother Arthur L. Sims and a brother-in-law.  The family will receive friends at the chapel on Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.  Guests may sign the online register at www.cloudfuneralhome.com — Cloud Funeral Home
