Ann Wade Edwards

Services for Anne Wade Edwards, 75, of Cairo, will be held on Monday, Nov. 9, 2009, at 2 p.m., graveside in Cairo Cemetery, Cairo. The Rev. Dr. James Spencer will officiate. Mrs. Edwards passed away on Friday, Nov. 6, 2009. Mrs. Edwards was born in Thomas County on Sept. 6, 1934, to the late John Arthur and Nora Albritton Wade. On Nov. 28, 1954, she married Angus Edwards Jr., who preceded her in death. Mrs. Edwards was a member of Cairo Presbyterian Church, and served as Probate Judge for Grady County until her retirement. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Bobby Williams, Cairo; granddaughters, Carrie Anne Williams, Pensacola, Fla., and Sarah Katherine Williams of Athens; sisters, Cleo Hagan and Lysbeth Brown, both of Jacksonville, Fla., and Merle Matthews and Doris Gandy both of Atmore, Ala.; a host of loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Angus Edwards Jr. May 6, 1981, her son, John Stephen Edwards, March 11, 1982, her parents John Arthur and Nora Wade, sisters, Dora Hackney, Sadie Shuman and Dot Carter and a brother, Wallace Wade.
