Stephen "Henry" Lewis

Services for Stephen "Henry" Lewis, 92, of Thomasville, are at 4 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 at Allen and Allen Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Earl Justice will officiate. Interment is at 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, in Ramah Cemetery in Gordon, Ga. Mr. Lewis died Nov. 3 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Born, Oct. 26, 1917, in Dublin, Ga., he was the son of the late Henry C. and Anna Belcher Lewis. In 1942, in South Carolina, he married Ruth Youmans Lewis, who preceded him in death in 2004. He was a member of the Lions Club and First Baptist Church in Zephyrhills, Fla. He was a veteran of the United States Army, in which, he was awarded the following medals: Marksman rifle, marksman carbine, Southern Philippines American Theater Ribbon, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with one Bronze Star, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Victory Medal. Survivors include daughter, Martha Lewis of Douglas; brother, Anthony Lewis of Dallas, Texas; nieces and nephews, Anne and F.C. Ring, Elaine and Keith Massey and Bryant and Sherry Ring all of Thomasville. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Lewis; sisters, Ellen Shaffer, Lucille English, Audrey Jackson and Roselle Carter; and brothers, George Lewis, Ross Lewis and Robert Lewis. Memorial contributions may be made to Gulfside Regional Hospice, 6117 Trouble Creek Rd., New Port Richey, Fla., 34653 or to Gatlin Creek Baptist Church, 2031 Gatlin Creek Rd., Thomasville, Ga. 31757.
