Jerauld C. (Jerry) MacFarlane



Graveside services for Jerauld C. (Jerry) MacFarlane, of Riverview, Fla., are at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at Laurel Hill Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. James A. Nelson of Dawson Street United Methodist Church will officiate. Mr. MacFarlane died Oct. 23 at his residence. Born Aug. 29, 1944, he was a son of the late Margaret Mahan MacFarlane from Dedham, Mass., and the late James MacFarlane from Washington, D.C. Annelle and Glenn Johnson from Thomasville, who also preceded him in death, were his mother-in-law and father-in-law. He lived in Riverview for over 20 years and worked for GTE for over 30 years. He also worked for Verizon for a number of years. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Georgia Southwestern University in Americus and his master’s degree from North Carolina Central University in Durham, N.C. He was a beloved husband and father. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Pat Johnson MacFarlane who was born and raised in Thomasville. Other survivors include a daughter, Dawn MacFarlane; two sons, Barry and Matt MacFarlane all of Riverview; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lena and Robert Clark of Thomasville; sister-in-law, Sue Johnson of Thomasville; aunt and uncle, Ellen and John O’Leary of West Roxbury, Mass.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. — Whiddon-Shiver Funeral Home
