Eva Marion Edwards Brumbley Herndon



Services for Eva Marion Edwards Brumbley Herndon, formerly of Meigs, are 3:30 p.m. Monday at Ochlocknee Baptist Church. The Rev. Dennis Norman will officiate, and interment is at Meigs Sunset Cemetery. Active pallbearers are deacons of the church. Mrs. Herndon was born March 16, 1912, in Washington County, to parents Robert Edwards and Susie Green, both deceased. She married James Thomas Brumbley on July 2, 1935. He preceded her in death on March 8, 1962. She married Emmett Herndon on June 26, 1987, who also preceded her in death. Mrs. Herndon was a homemaker and a member of Ochlocknee Baptist Church. She died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at Presbyterian Home in Quitman. Survivors include daughter, Alma J. Williams of Boston; sons, James L. Brumbley of Ochlocknee, Hilton W. Brumbley of Pelham and Herman T. Brumbley of Nevada; grandchildren, Samuel Brumbley, Francis Scott Brumbley, Terry L. Williams, David Wiley Williams, Teresa Ann Williams, Jennifer Diane Carroll, Hannah Brumbley, Leslie Morey, Trudy Forsyth, Louann Powers and Eva Jean Brumbley; 11 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and, a number of other family members. She was preceded in death by six brothers, three sisters, and grandsons, James Lee Brumbley Jr., Jerry Lee Williams and Martin John Brumbley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105 by mail or phone at (800) 805-5856.
